Polignano

A cliff in the sea with a sky “Blu dipinto di blu”.

A

crystalline sea and the rock embroidered with impressive cavities, dug by the sea, are the hallmarks of Polignano a Mare, known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic", just over 30 km from Bari.

Birthplace of the singer Domenico Modugno, which became famous with its "Nel blue painted blue", Polignano fascinates with its historic center full of Arab, Byzantine, Spanish and Norman traces, such as the remains of the four defense towers that surrounded the ancient part of the town. From the Arco della Porta, once the only access road to the town, you enter the magical village, embellished by the thirteenth-century Mother Church dedicated to the Assumption. A visit to the "Pino Pascali" Foundation Museum, set up in the former Municipal Slaughterhouse, dedicated to the work of the great Apulian sculptor and artist, cannot be missed. The profile of the coast, the high cliffs and the indented coast, from Grotta Palazzese to Lama Monachile, of the Polignano coast, one of the most beautiful in Puglia, between hidden coves and delightful sandy inlets.

Awarded several times with the Blue Flag recognition, the Polignano a Mare coast is full of caves and hidden coves.
